Antrim Enterprise Agency welcomes Laura all a-board

Antrim Enterprise Agency is delighted to welcome Antrim solicitor Laura McKnight to the Board of Trustees. Laura, a qualified solicitor, is owner of LegalAssistNI, a legal consultancy service specialising in the Statutory Registration Scheme for Providers of Publicly Funded Legal Services.

In the past, she has practised in a number of private legal firms and within the public sector. Her workload has been varied, covering domestic and commercial conveyancing, high court and county court litigation, including medical negligence, family and domestic law, as well as probate and criminal.

Welcoming Laura to the organisation, Manager Jennifer McWilliams said: We are proud to announce that Laura McKnight will take over a Trustee position recently vacated by the retiring Andy Little.  As a major borough wide asset Antrim Enterprise Agency is a very successful social economy business. We are a not for profit taking organisation with charitable status contributing to the local economic development and business growth in a variety of ways from advice and guidance to training to mentoring support. We  anticipate that Laura’s legal skills and experience will be an asset to our Board as we work toward achieving our vision of being Antrim & Newtownabbey borough’s most dynamic enterprise centre encouraging, guiding, motivating and inspiring individuals into self-employment. 

Speaking at her appointment Laura stated: “I am delighted to join the Trustees at Antrim Enterprise. As a start-up business myself I understand the important work that the organisation is engaged in; encouraging and supporting other likeminded individuals into self-employment.  Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough needs more entrepreneurs and I would encourage anyone considering self-employment to contact the business advisors at the enterprise centre” 

Laura’s appointment brings the number of directors serving at Antrim Enterprise to eight including; Celine Corrigan (Corrigan & Co Accountants); Mark Cosgrove (Redhead International); John Taggart (retired bank official); Richard McCourt (retired engineer); Freda Waite (retired administrator); Noel Maguire (Community Development) and Richard Cairns (Office Manager)

 Taking on board best practice in succession planning the enterprise centre are looking at expanding the board further and would welcome applications from interested individuals within the property development/management; banking and human resource management sectors.
