Through the local enterprise agencies, the ‘Go For It’ Programme offers advice and guidance on start-up and helps people write realistic business plans which can then be used to secure finance. Businesses are also signposted to sources of funding which best suit their needs.
The ‘Go For It’ initiative is aimed at locals aged 16 years or over who are interested in being their own boss. It is a comprehensive package of advice, training and support for anyone thinking of starting their own business in the Borough. This project is part funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the Investment for Growth and Jobs Northern Ireland (2014-2020) Programme.
It is being delivered on the Council’s behalf, through the Enterprise Northern Ireland Network, Ards Business Centre Ltd and North Down Development Organisation Ltd. It will provide participants with expert guidance and mentoring from an accredited business advisor, to help develop their business plan.
Deputy Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Gavin Walker, is encouraging individuals who are thinking of setting up their own business to take that leap of faith: “Don’t be afraid to bring forward your ideas. By talking them through with a business start-up advisor, you will quickly know if the business idea is sustainable. If it is, the business advisor will work with you to develop a business plan to allow your business to develop and start up. Make that important first step towards your future.”
