East Belfast Enterprise Plans Transformation Ahead of an Ambitious 2026

East Belfast Enterprise is celebrating a year of significant achievement, community impact and strategic progress, while setting out bold plans for 2026 that will build on 40 years of supporting people, businesses and places across East Belfast.

East Belfast Enterprise marked a major milestone by hosting the 10th Eastside Awards, welcoming over 450 guests at a gala dinner in the Titanic Suite at the Titanic Visitor Centre in Belfast to recognise the individuals, businesses and organisations that continue to shape the social and economic success of East Belfast. The awards have become a flagship celebration of local enterprise, community leadership, and innovation, reflecting the strength and resilience of the area.

During 2025, alongside celebration, East Belfast Enterprise strengthened its commitment to sustainability and responsible business. Solar PV panels and EV charging points were installed at its City East building, supporting the organisation’s journey towards reduced carbon emissions. East Belfast Enterprise also achieved membership of the Belfast Business Promise, becoming both a Real Living Wage employer and a JAM Card friendly business, reinforcing its focus on fairness, inclusion, and accessibility.

Following the success of the 10th Eastside Awards at the start of 2026, the organisation has appointed new Chair Glyn Roberts to lead the Board as East Belfast Enterprise develops a new strategy focused on driving progress, opportunity and inclusive growth across the area. The organisation is also preparing to launch a new corporate identity and brand later this year, reflecting its evolving role and future ambition.

Jonathan McAlpin, Chief Executive of East Belfast Enterprise, said: “East Belfast Enterprise is incredibly proud to be one of the first LEAs to be under the Enterprise NI Local Enterprise Agency showcase spotlight. The past year has been one of reflection, celebration and progress for East Belfast Enterprise. From recognising the incredible achievements of our community through the Eastside Awards to strengthening our commitment to sustainability and inclusive employment, we are proud of the positive impact we continue to make across East Belfast.

“As we look ahead to 2026, having already held our successful 10th Eastside Awards, we will have a new brand and new leadership at Board level; this is an exciting moment for the organisation. Our focus remains firmly on supporting enterprise, championing collaboration and ensuring East Belfast is a place where people and businesses can thrive, now and into the future.

“The introduction of a new Chair is a critical step in this next phase of our journey. Strong governance and fresh leadership will help shape a clear, ambitious strategy that builds on our successes, responds to emerging challenges and ensures East Belfast Enterprise continues to deliver meaningful impact for our community and stakeholders.”
